Officer ‘thrilled’

FOOTSCRAY’S Senior Sergeant Bill Weatherly welcomed the appointment of Sandra Nicholson as the Assistant Commissioner for Region 2.
The position places Ms Nicholson in control of the West from Footscray to the South Australian border.
Snr Sgt Weatherly said Ms Nicholson was “excellent” for the post.
“Ms Nicholson is the best person for the job,” he said.
“She’s very approachable to all members, from all ranks, and she listens to everyone.”
Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon announced the appointment last week.
Ms Nixon also appointed two others as Assistant Commissioners: Luke Cornelius to Ethical Standards Division; and Ken Lay to Region 3 (North West).
They will officially take up their positions on 4 December.
Ms Nicholson has been Acting Assistant Commissioner (Region 2 West) since July.
She was previously the Divisional Superintendent (Region 2) and Detective Superintendent (Region 3), and has worked in the police force for 30 years.
Ms Nicholson said she was honoured by the appointment.
“I am thrilled that I will continue to serve the western Victorian community, where I have greatly enjoyed working for the past few years,” she said.
